Friends of the studio! Our teen opera workshop has just launched its fundraising campaign for the summer opera, Gian Carlo Menotti’s The Medium! Please spread the word! Our teens will be so grateful!
Why we need your help: We’re committed to keeping participation in the Opera Workshop accessible to all our teens, which means that we rely on donations to help us pay for pianists for our rehearsals and performances, and for production expenses such as sets, costumes, lighting, space, musicians, and required artistic staff. Because it has a single set and a small cast, The Medium is relatively inexpensive to produce. Our greatest expenses will be performance rights, performance space, and musical accompaniment/direction, things we absolutely can’t do without. Though we raise money all year to fund rehearsals and opera scene performances, this full production is where we most need your help. Without you, the show can’t go on. This campaign is being launched in conjunction with our fiscal sponsor, Fractured Atlas. All contributions are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law. |

Support these MA teen artists!
BRILLIANT TEENS DOING COOL STUFF: Turning attention away from the studio for a bit, here’s a quick pitch for teen artists we know who are fundraising to further their education!
Only two of these teens are our students, but they are all glorious artists with so much to offer to the world. Donate if you can, and spread the word about their campaigns! |
Seeking summer opera space!
Friends of the studio and the Opera Workshop! We are currently seeking an appropriate performance space for our summer opera production. Performance dates are August 14, 15, & 16. Ideally we’d want to be able to work in the space (daytimes, with the option to stay later to deal with any technical issues) during the week leading up to the performances, beginning August 10th.
Ideal space would have a smallish house (100 seats or less), adaptable to staging in 3/4 or round, with a good piano available and air conditioning. Extra perks would be an existing lighting grid (with available lighting instruments) and dressing room areas, but we can work with nearly any space as long as it fits the main requirements.
Act Too Studio Opera Workshop is a sponsored project of Fractured Atlas, a non‐profit arts service organization. Donations of space are not tax-deductible, but some spaces may offer a discounted rate for non-profits, so that is important information.
Any ideas or leads, send them our way! If you have or know someone who has access to/influence over a space that might be appropriate, we appreciate any word you can put in on our behalf. Thank you!

New: Opera Workshop Video!
Melinda has spent the past couple of weeks interviewing our Opera Workshop students in order to put together this new video about the Workshop. We’re constantly blown away by the brilliance of these kids! See and hear about what they’d been doing (and what’s up for 2015) right here!

Now that the Workshop has really taken on a life of its own, we’ve also created a new Facebook Page. Like the page to keep up on all the latest news! We’ll be sharing photos, videos, and tales of our operatic exploits, hopefully for years to come. Also: Opera Workshop 2105!
Congrats to all the students in the Act Too Studio Opera Workshop!
